Breathless Reads Tour
Books of Wonder is one of my favourite places to hang out. Not only does it have a great little cupcake shop with comfortable seating inside and scones from Alice’s Tea Cup, it also stocks a number of children’s (and young adults) books. One of the greatest things about this bookstore - apart from its charm - is that it connects readers and authors.
Last week I went to Books of Wonder to see Andrea Cremer, Beth Revis, Jessica Spotswood and Marie Lu on their Breathless Reads tour. It was a fun experience, Andrea announced that she was moving to NY to pursue her writing career and that she’s working on a steampunk trilogy (I like the way she writes, but I really hope she handles the love angle differently). Beth, always funny; I love her stories - especially the one where she read the abridged, children’s version of Little Women and thought that Beth moved to a house by the sea! I think I read the same one when I was younger, I understand the confusion. :) Jessica is just too adorable, she (and Beth) revealed that they use their husbands for kissing research; I’m sure their hubbies don’t mind. Marie, who was a video game art director before Legend, loved ponies and horse stories growing up.
If you’re a New Yorker and live in the metro area, you have to make it out to a Books of Wonder event. It’s a great way to discover new books and new authors. It’s also a great place to find signed copies of books.
Read reviews of Across the Universe, Nightshade and Born Wicked.

"Do you think I am an automaton? — a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! — I have as much soul as you — and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh: it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal — as we are! (Jane to Mr. Rochester-Ch. 23)"— Charlotte Brontë
